New Leaf Festival and Woodland Gatherings!
Thanks to being chosen for the Sheffield Hallam Unievrsity Research “Levelling Up Challenge”. We were awarded research money to explore Pride in Place within the South Yorkshire region. We chose Woodlands, Doncaster - which is home to a conservation area based from award winning social urban planner design of “gardens of the future”. AKA Garden Cities. This area was previously a mining community/industry. And we explored what it is now and for the future, as designed and discussed by the people who live there.
Doing this we worked with local history groups, local charities, residents of all ages! local creatives and beyond.
We did creative litter picking, photo history walks, drawing and dreaming about the local landscape, creative writing and designing.
We had a mini festival called, “New Leaf” and a month long exhibition in Woodlands Community Library called: “The Woodlands Gathering”.
