6. Hospital Adventures

Living with chronic health conditions for years, that often affect my quality of life,I’ve been denying for years that this is just my life now.

For years I've been doing it alone.

I've been trying to capture some of these pathways, meaningfully. My long-endless writings on Facebook and my blog have helped somewhat. But also what I'm finding is my drawing alone isn't quite cutting it.

Then talking with my friend, Allie Carr, she made me realize that care is collaborative - and I am at my strongest when in dialogue/cohoots/collaborative context. Someone to get into mischief with, or feel the weight, or a fresh perspective.

So i put my hospital appointments and location & type on a private facebook group - and got trusted friends to be a collaborator with me on these journeys. They elected themselves - if they wanted to - to join me on this adventure.

The rules/process:
We will arrive 30 mins (at least) early for the appointment time. And together we will either talk about what's happening/the environment/slyly capturing it/draw/whatever takes the mood.

Or even just sit quietly. Together. In this weird-ass space and time. Whatever the space and moment dictate.

Please don't feel like you have to take part or come along. But if you fancy joining an appointment and are free. Please come along.

This is proper new to me too. So. I hope by sharing these experiences that I have really tried to cut everyone off from seeing, that it can help me/us think more critically, reflectively and with more vulnerability to this process and its systems.

Some Work/images/conversations made/captured/generated from this: (was turned into a book called Hospital Adventures --- will upload soon to download - parts below)
