1. RESILIENCE IS FUTILE

Resilience is Futile is the first collaborative publication between Corridor8 and Yorkshire & Humber Visual Arts Network (YVAN), launched at The Art House Wakefield on 1 August 2019. In a series of contributions, Kerry Harker, Thomas Hopkin, Sarah Smizz and writer-in-residence Alice Bradshaw interrogate the commonplace use of the terms ‘resilience’, ‘ecology’ and ‘authenticity’ and what they really mean for artists practising across the Yorkshire region. The residency and publication were supported by Arts Council England and Sheffield Hallam University.

Five-hundred print copies were distributed to art venues across Yorkshire and beyond, available while supplies last(ed).

The full publication can now be downloaded here: Resilience is Futile 2019 C8 YVAN

Building upon this residency, we now have the Caring Reading Group [working title] - building upon these conversations & using them to change practice/values/mission of structures such as YVAN and Arts Council - ensuring that whilst agendas might be about Health & Wellbeing, that their structures and practices also represent this too.

It’s an exciting time & feeling empowered enough to do this creatively with awesome people. If you’d like to join, email me.

We usually meet at The Arts House, Wakefield - every 10 weeks.
